How to keep your hair colour longer.
Colour fades fastest in the first few weeks. A few easy habits keep it looking salon-fresh for longer.
The first few days
- Wait 48 to 72 hours before your first wash so the colour can settle.
- Avoid swimming pools and very hot showers in the first week.
Washing
- Use a colour-safe, sulfate-free shampoo and a conditioner.
- Wash with lukewarm or cool water. Hot water opens the hair cuticle and lets colour wash out.
- Wash less often if you can — every wash takes a little colour with it.
Heat and sun
- Use a heat protectant before blow-drying, straightening or curling, and turn the heat down.
- Singapore sun fades colour. Wear a cap or use a UV-protect hair product when you are outdoors for long.
Bleached and bright colours
- Bleached hair is more fragile. A weekly mask or deep treatment helps it stay soft. We offer a deep treatment add-on at the salon.
- Bright shades like pink, red and pastel fade faster. A colour-depositing conditioner helps between visits.
When to touch up
Most people refresh their colour or roots every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how fast their hair grows and the shade. See prices on our hair colour page: men from $68, ladies from $98.
